A letter from the president

Dear San Diego DGs,

I can’t tell you how excited I am to embark on a new year as your president. It’s difficult to describe exactly what I get out of this group… to describe what I get from DG. But, I will try to illustrate it with a couple of examples in this small space. Several years ago, I returned from what was a nightmare vacation to my car that had been broken into… and a ton of my worldly possessions had been stolen. I had a DG meeting that night and I went. After explaining to a fellow alumna (who became a dear friend) what I had been through, I was asked “Wow, so why are you here?!” My answer: “Because I knew I would get support here—there’s comfort in knowing it would be a good environment and I would go home feeling better.” And I was right. I have been in three weddings of people whom I’ve become friends with as a result of this group—unbelievable friendships that I would not have otherwise. I’ve been to funerals for children and husbands of sisters and for sisters too. Each of these people have touched my life and I feel truly blessed to be a part of this spectacular group.

I would love to have you as a part of our group and create some memories with you as well! I absolutely understand there is a time and place for Delta Gamma for each of us and I hope it is time for you to join us. The beauty is that you can join us as often or as
infrequently as you would like (with no fines). We are here for you whether you can make it once per year or to every event. By the way, there will be a really nice prize for those of you who make it to every event this year—we are re-instituting the “perfect attendance” award!

Take a look at our calendar of events for the year. I believe your board has put together a fantastic schedule of a variety of events that will appeal to all of you. I look forward to seeing you this year, but in the meantime, please see the ways to connect with us on page five. Trust me, there is great value in what Delta Gamma can bring to your life—for a lifetime. I look forward to a tremendous year and to seeing you all at our events!
